First Friday on Roosevelt will be returning this week with hundreds of examples of the artistic talent in Phoenix. Olney Gallery at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral will be opening with painter Alfredo Escarcega’s work, which is heavily based on Surrealism. His influences come from his surroundings—from the barrios of Southern California to the deserts of Arizona, Escarcega’s Technicolor art offers a unique perspective on the world.
Guitars for Vets, a national non-profit, was founded in 2007,with the aim of enhancing the lives of ailing and injured military veterans by providing them with guitars and music instruction. In 2012, ASU's Music Therapy Clinic collaborated with the program, aiming to deepen the healing experience for veterans. K-Bach's Jane Hilton reports.

Classical Revolution Phoenix continued their mission to expand the classical music audience with "Bayer & Peterson": a concert featuring the works of Elizabeth Kennedy Bayer and Tom Peterson. Both composers were recipients of the Judge's and Audience Awards from the 2012 Classical Revolution PHX AZ Centennial-Themed Composition Competition sponsored by the Tempe History Museum.
