Having Trouble with 89.5 FM?

...So Tchaikovsy played his new piano concerto for pianist Nicolai Rubenstein, the man Tchaikovsky hoped would premiere the work.  Rubenstein was flustered by the radically creative work, and declared it worthless and unplayable!  Tchaikovsky was crushed.  Eventually Nicolai came around and championed the work, but the damage had been done.  Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto #1 remains one of the most popular pieces in the repertoire.
