Dr. Margaret Martin is the Founder and National Director of The Harmony Project: a non-profit organization that engages, challenges and mentors under-resourced children through music 5 to 10 hours per week, year round. She is in Arizona this week in support of the Harmony Project’s new Phoenix chapter, and joined Dr. Diogo Pereira, director of the local effort, to speak with K-Bach’s Sterling Beeaff about the importance of music education in our communities.

Harmony Project Phoenix is a free afterschool music program that builds orchestras, bands and choirs in underserved areas of Phoenix. The Harmony Project Phoenix Orchestra, formed by 100 inner-city young musicians, will come together on stage for the first time on Thursday, May 26 at 7 pm, at the Mesa Arts Center.
