About the Artists

Southwest Brass has been performing around Arizona since 1967. Originally created by Phoenix Symphony players, the Southwest Brass was the resident brass faculty at Arizona State University from 1976-1982. Since 1982, the SWB has been an independent institution, touring 12 of the United States and every Mexican state.

Michael Long began his musical studies at the Chicago Conservatory of Music and received advanced training on the guitar from the Romero family. Michael has numerous recordings to his credit and anticipates a new release this next year, which will include Ken LaFave work found on this recording.

Bartholomew Faire is an ensemble specializing in, but not limited to, the secular songs and dances of medieval and renaissance Europe. Bartholomew Faire is dedicated to presenting its repertory with lively authenticity so as to convey the immediacy this music had so long ago.

John Ebinger is a native of New Mexico and is currently a member of the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra. John holds an undergraduate degree from New Mexico State University, and a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from Arizona State University. He has performed with the New Mexico Symphony, The Tucson Symphony, and the Hawaii Symphony. Ebinger is accompanied by Roy Hakes.

Lynne Haeseler attended the State University of New York at Purchase, and studied with Jean Casadesus, Bruce Hungerford, Joel Rosen, and Nina Svetlanova. She earned her doctorate in Piano Performance from the University of Arizona. Ms. Haeseler serves as staff pianist for the Vail International Dance Festival, Ballet Arizona and the Orpheus Chorus.

Musica Dolce was established in 1978 by musicians with a vital interest in Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque music, and has been on the Arizona Commission on the Arts touring roster for a number of years, performing on concert series presented by ASU Kerr Cultural Center, Flagstaff Festival of the Arts, Phoenix and Sun Cities Art Museums, Arizona’s early music societies, Phoenix Boys Choir, and the Phoenix Bach Choir.

Julianne Markavitch is an independent recording artist with five CDs of classical piano. Julianne is an alumna of the National Music Camp and Arts Academy at Interlochen, Michigan. She received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at Austin and her Master of Music from the University of Michigan, both degrees in Piano Performance.

Phoenix Boys Choir Ranging from 10 to 14 years of age, these singers are lauded internationally. In February 2003, The Choir made its debut at Carnagie Hall. Georg Stangelberger has been Artistic Dirtector since 1999. Soloists: Jake S. Johnson, Zachary Simon, Luke Hawthorne.

Rose-n-Rood Director of Keyboard Studies at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Henry Rose holds Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance. Kathryn Rood is a former pianist with the Phoenix Symphony and holds Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance. Recorded at Arizona State University’s Katzin Music Hall, this recording includes accompaniments to Bach’s Inventions, composed by Henry Rose.

Phoenix Bach Choir was founded in 1958. Charles Bruffy has been Artistic Director of the Phoenix Bach Choir since 1999. The selections on this CD were recorded in live performance. Laudate Dominum by Mozart features Joni Killian as soprano soloist.
