Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi


In a tale of revenge, lust, and innocence betrayed, the libertine Duke of Mantua seduces the sheltered Gilda, daughter of his own sarcastic court jester Rigoletto, and a father's protective love turns to a bitter thirst for vengeance.

La fille du regiment (The Daughter of the Regiment) by Gaetano Donizetti


This charming comic opera includes the show-stopping tenor aria "Ah, mes amis" with its nine high Cs, plus the crusty Duchess of Crackentorp and, of course, young love blossoming in the middle of military obligations.

This tragedy of betrayed loyalty and ill-fated passion focuses on the love triangle between Riccardo, Count of Warwick; his secretary, Renato; and Amelia, Renato's wife.

Hänsel und Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck


Declared a "masterpiece" by Richard Strauss, Humperdinck's fairy-tale opera began life as a family entertainment for private performance, using a libretto by his sister Adelheid.
