Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra is a group founded on a passion of playing early music at a time when students at Toronto University had no outlet for authentic style playing. What began in 1979 has grown into one of the top notch Canadian ensembles, and one of the world's great orchestras. On this new CD, the group turns to Bach, and the results are magnificent. Tafelmusik is joined by David Taylor, counter tenor, and Jon Aberger, oboe.

For those who love Ottorino Respighi's suites like The Pines of Rome,Fountains of Rome and Ancient Airs and Dances,the KBAQ CD of the Week offers a very satisfying chance to hear some neglected works as well as some left incomplete by Respighi. The centerpiece is a violin concerto, completed and transcribed by conductor Salvatore Di Vittorio and played by the young Italian violinist Laura Marzadori. The orchestra is the Chamber Orchestra Of New York and the sound is fantastic.
