Katrina Becker

Announcer and Public Affairs Coordinator

With a start on the violin at four, and piano lessons a few years later, Katrina Becker has always enjoyed a life filled with classical music, including playing with the Mesa Symphony, the West Valley Symphony, and the Flagstaff Symphony, as well as working as operations coordinator for The Phoenix Symphony. She received a B.A. in religious studies with a minor in music performance from Northern Arizona University, and currently performs with Ensemble Indigo, the Renaissance Quartet, and several other Valley ensembles. Katrina regularly moderates The Phoenix Symphony's pre-concert "Musically Speaking" discussions for the Thursday night Classics series throughout the season, and especially enjoys KBAQ's outreach activities in the community, including Ballet Under the Stars appearances in Valley parks for Ballet Arizona and live Metropolitan Opera High-Definition broadcasts in local movie theaters.

Away from KBAQ, Katrina enjoys spending time with her husband and playing chamber music with her sister. Her family also includes Tartini, an energetic dog rescued from the pound.

Katrina hosts Saturday at the Opera on KBAQ; she's also on the air every Sunday from 11AM to 3PM, and Monday and Tuesday evenings starting at 7PM.
