Today at noon on "Most Wanted"-Tchaikovsky's worthless, unplayable Concerto.

...So Tchaikovsy played his new piano concerto for pianist Nicolai Rubenstein, the man Tchaikovsky hoped would premiere the work.  Rubenstein was flustered by the radically creative work, and declared it worthless and unplayable!  Tchaikovsky was crushed.  Eventually Nicolai came around and championed the work, but the damage had been done.  Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto #1 remains one of the most popular pieces in the repertoire. We know YOU love it-- it came out to be #34  on the top 100 list you voted on! hear it today on "Kbach's Most Wanted" at noon with Linda Cassidy.
