Classical Revolution Phoestival 2013

Click to Listen:

In 2006 a quiet uprising began in a San Francisco café…a group of musicians banded under the banner of Beethoven, Haydn and Shostakovich with one goal in mind: break down the traditional barriers of classical music and make it truly accessible: essentially, bring music to the people.

Bassoonist Joey Kluesener has spearheaded the Classical Revolution movement here in Phoenix, and for the past three years has helped bring classical music to local pubs and bars, alternative venues and art spaces. Friday, April 5, Classical Revolution Phoenix, in conjunction with the Phoenix Chorale and Downtown Phoenix’s First Friday artwalk, presented a free chamber music festival at the Trinity Cathedral—4 stages, 3 hours, and 10 ensembles…Joey joined K-BACH's Sterling Beeaff to share a taste of the Phoestival.(Audio linked below)

Participating artists and ensembles included the Phoenix Chorale, Mana Saxophone Orchestra, ASU Pan Devils, Flutist Jenna Daum, Pianist Drew Quiring, Pianist Ashley Oakley, Opera Revolution, Herberger String Quartet, and the Phoenix Chamber Brass.
