Osvaldo Golijov
( Phoenix, AZ )
Friday, May 23 and Saturday, May 24, The Phoenix Symphony performs a concert version of the opera Ainadamar: Fountain of Tears by Argentinean composer Osvaldo Golijov. A dream-like vision of the martyred poet Federico Garcia Lorca as his muse, Margarita Xirgu, nears the end of her own life, Ainadamar stars soprano Dawn Upshaw, mezzo-soprano Kelley O'Connor, soprano Emily Albrink, and flamenco tenor Jesus Montoya.
KBAQ's Katrina Becker spoke with Osvaldo Golijov by phone. Hear excerpts of the interview and the music.
